Library

The Library is a living collection of stories we've "reverse engineered" to showcase what is possible using Prewrite. Each story attempts to visualize what great (and not so great) storytelling decisions "look like."

Browse the Library

Click Library in the main navigation. Featured stories run across the top, and move on by themselves every few seconds. Use the arrows at either side to move through them yourself.

Below them, the stories are grouped into sections:

  • Movies and TV, in two rows: Plot-Driven and Character-Driven;
  • Business Stories;
  • Short Stories;
  • Creator Works.

Each card shows the story's cover and title, and the tags it's filed under.

Change the Layout

The toggle at the right of the first section's heading (Section layout) switches every row between two layouts:

  • Scrolling rows: each row is one line you scroll sideways. On a wide screen, arrows appear at its ends when there's more to see.
  • Wrapped rows: each row wraps onto as many lines as it needs, so you see every story at once.

Your choice is remembered in this browser.

Open a Story

Click a story's cover or title to open it, and see how it was put together. The featured stories at the top open the same way, and have the same copy button.

Make a Copy

To work on a library story yourself, copy it into your own stories:

  1. Point at the story's cover. A round copy button (Make a copy) appears at its top right. On smaller screens, it's always there.
  2. Click it. The Make a copy window opens, the same one you use to copy your own stories.
  3. Under New Name, name the copy, and pick a folder beside it if you like. The copy lands in My Stories unless you choose one.
  4. Leave Include Story Details, Include Scenes and Include Characters on to take everything, the cover image included, and click Copy story.

Your copy opens as soon as it's made. It's yours: changing it doesn't touch the library story.

  • If you're signed out, the dialog asks you to Sign In or Create Account first.
  • A free account can keep one story. If you already have one, you're offered upgrade options instead (see Plans and Billing).

For the steps in short, see Copy a Library Story.

Suggest a Story

Missing a story you'd like to see? Click Suggest a story: in the page's header when you're signed in, or, when you're not, under Didn't find what you needed? at the bottom of the page. It opens an email to us, and we'll do our best to add it.
