- Click Sign In at the top of Prewrite's public pages (the home page, templates, pricing…). A sign-in window opens over the page. (You can also go to the sign-in page, prewrite.com/login.)
- Type your Email and Password. The eye in the password field shows what you typed.
- Click Sign In.
If you signed up with Google or Facebook, click Continue with Google or Continue with Facebook instead.
You're taken to your stories, or back to the page you were on. If your session ends while you're working, Prewrite sends you to the sign-in page, and back to where you were once you've signed in. If you're already signed in, the sign-in page doesn't show: it sends you on to your stories.
Create an Account
An account is free. It starts on the Free plan, and you can upgrade anytime (see Plans & Billing).
- Click Get Started at the top of Prewrite's public pages, or Create Account in the sign-in window.
- Type your Email and click Create Account.
- Prewrite sends you a confirmation link. The window says Your account has been created..
With Continue with Google or Continue with Facebook, there's no email to confirm: your account is ready as soon as you've signed in there.
If you started a story before creating an account, the Create Account tab names it, so you know your changes will be saved to your new account.
Confirm Your Email
- Open the email from Prewrite and click its confirmation link. The Finish Creating Your Account page opens.
- Type your First name and Last name.
- Choose a Password. The list under it ticks off each rule as you type: at least 8 characters, an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a symbol (at most 32 characters).
- Click Create Account. You're signed in, and taken to your stories, or back to the page you started from.
The link works on any device, not only the one you signed up on.
If the email doesn't arrive within a few minutes, look in your Promotions or Spam folder. Still nothing? Click Resend email in the window that said your account was created. It can be sent again every 30 seconds.
If a confirmation link has already been used, or doesn't work, it opens the password reset page with a note saying so. Request a reset link there to set your password (see below).
Reset Your Password
- In the sign-in window, click Forgot password?.
- Type your Email and click Send reset link. The page says Password Reset Link Sent.. The email can take several minutes to arrive.
- Click the link in the email. The Set a new password page opens.
- Choose a new password (the same rules as above) and click Set password.
- The sign-in page says Your password has been reset. Please sign in.. Sign in with your new password.
If the link has expired, the page says so: request a new one there.
To change a password you know, use Settings › Password instead (see Account Settings).
When Prewrite Asks You to Sign In
You can look around Prewrite without an account: the templates, the library, the blog and the pricing page. To make something of your own, you need to sign in. For example, when you:
- choose a template and start writing;
- click Create free account on the pricing page.
Prewrite asks you to Sign In or Create Account. Once you've signed in, you stay on the page you were on, so you can carry on. If you create an account, confirming your email brings you back to the template you chose; from Create free account, it takes you to your stories.
If you open a link to a story that isn't shared publicly, Prewrite says This story isn't available. It may be private, or the link may be wrong. If you aren't signed in, click Sign in beside Back to stories: once you've signed in with an account that has access, the story opens.
